Received: 12/12/2020

Respondent: Ms Fiona Harrison

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

Unsuitable infrastructure under too much pressure already, will exacerbate existing problems of "village" life.

Change suggested by respondent:

No more building in the Dickens Heath area. This area has born the brunt of development, it is being ruined and we will never get back what we have lost. When is enough enough?

Full text:

The original vision for Dickens Heath was for it to be a village, built with small roads and lanes and lots of open space. The original vision has been added to and added to so that it is now a huge estate without the infrastructure to cope with its huge population. Parking is an issue - it is not possible to park and go to the shops so people go elsewhere, crime is a growing problem, there is a tiny playground which attracts groups of teens with nothing better to do, the extended parking at Whitlocks still cannot cope with the volume of commuters. It has strayed far from its original vision and by adding thousands more houses adding on to an original plan that Solihull MBC had, so now the original infrastructure cannot cope.

This will be exacerbated with the building of many more homes without any infrastructure, putting more pressure on the limitations of the facilities in Dickens Heath and eroding what land is left that can be easily accessed by residents for walking and enjoying the original concept of living in the countryside. More wildlife will be killed, more flooding issues will be seen (roads flood most years).
