Draft Local Plan - Supplementary Consultation

Representation ID: 8368

Received: 14/03/2019

Respondent: Aaron White

Representation Summary:

Site A4 - GOLDEN END FARM
Site should NOT be considered for further development.
- High scoring green belt land.
- Area (Kixley Lane) constantly in use by local people for leisure purposes. Development would impact upon this to detriment of health.
- Cannot cope with traffic increase - junction of Warwick/Kenilworth Roads cannot cope with current traffic flow. Parking here is crucial to local businesses.
- Knowle does not have infrastructure to cope with extra development. Dorridge/Bentley Heath and other areas of Solihull have more capacity.
- Development would increase pollutants near to a school contrary to Government's health agenda.

Dear Sir / Madam.

Please find below a list of our reasons to support why GOLDEN END FARM should not be considered for development!

1. It scored 11 our of 12 points as green belt land. And there are other sites that score lower.
2. If you were to observe the foot traffic of Kixley Lane you would agree that it is constantly used by families, walkers, dog walkers, runners and many others to enjoy the countryside and canal. Development would destroy the easy access and pleasure that the before mentioned people enjoy. An unintended consequence of development would impact general health of the current villagers.
3. The junction if Warwick and Kennelworth road would not cope with increased traffic as it already does not cope with the current flow. It is a bad idea to remove the parking on the junction as it is crutial to local businesses.
4. Why develop in Knowle in when local services and infrastructure are not able to cope with further demand. Surely there is better infrastructure and services in Dorridge and other areas of Solihull.
5. As parents of a young child it seems irresponsible to increase pollutions so close to a school. THIS IS CURRENTLY HIGH ON THE GOVERNMENTS HEALTH AGENDA (i.e. reducing traffic close to schools).
6. The only 2 development sites in the knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath plan are both in Knowle. I cannot see reason to not spread this load across the wider area.
